Jayaprakash Sampath began as a trainee researcher in 1994, tracking capital expenditure programmes through company visits across India, at a time when project intelligence was compiled entirely by hand. In 1999 he co-founded a digital-first research firm that served more than 500 organisations in India and overseas, and in 2017 he founded New Projects Tracker to bring that research online.
Today Kariyamangalam Technologies, promoted by Jayaprakash Sampath and Kavitha, runs that research as a family of products. The founder still oversees the research and the product decisions.
